Laptop Mate LLC β€” Reno, NV

We're Hiring at Our Reno Warehouse

Hands-on work with laptops every day. Two open spots at 5460 Louie Ln. We train you β€” no experience required.

Who We Are

We're a local Reno shop that's been buying, repairing, and reselling laptops since 2008. We run five buyback websites, sell tens of thousands of parts on eBay, and fix laptops out of our warehouse at 5460 Louie Ln. Family-owned, no corporate nonsense.

Devices come in from customers all over the country. Some get repaired. Some get resold whole. Some get torn down for parts. Our team handles all of it β€” inspection, photography, listing, and shipping. It's busy, it's hands-on, and no two days are the same.

πŸ“Έ

Lister / Image Taker

Full-time

You're the one who gets the laptop or part ready for eBay. You photograph it, upload it, scan the barcode, drop in the bin number, and push it live. We've got a custom tool that walks you through every step β€” it's not complicated, but it has to be done right. Bad photos = bad listings = stuff doesn't sell.

Day-to-day

  • βœ“Photo every device from the angles we specify β€” lid, bottom, ports, screen, keyboard, any damage
  • βœ“Screenshot the system info (CPU, RAM, storage, battery health) directly from the laptop
  • βœ“Upload everything to our lister tool β€” it auto-fills most of the listing from your screenshots
  • βœ“Scan the barcode label, type in the bin location, hit push β€” listing goes live on eBay
  • βœ“Parts days: photograph motherboards, screens, keyboards, fans, batteries β€” 100+ parts per teardown
  • βœ“Keep your station clean and organized β€” we track which bin holds what

Good fit if you're

  • β†’Detail-oriented β€” you notice if the photo is blurry or the angle is off
  • β†’Organized β€” bin numbers matter, labels matter
  • β†’Comfortable with repetitive work β€” it takes focus to do 40 laptops a day right
  • β†’No photography experience needed. We have a setup and a checklist.

Device Inspector

Full-time

Packages arrive from customers across the country β€” laptops in all conditions, from flawless to busted. Your job is to open them up, boot them, run through our inspection checklist, and tell us what we've got. Is the screen good? Battery healthy? Keyboard functional? Any liquid damage? You fill out the tech sheet in our system and decide: does this go out whole, or does it go to parts?

Day-to-day

  • βœ“Open incoming packages and check the physical condition β€” note any shipping damage
  • βœ“Boot to BIOS and check: confirmed model, serial number, boot behavior
  • βœ“Run Windows or macOS diagnostics β€” note CPU, RAM, storage type, battery cycles and health %
  • βœ“Physically test keyboard, trackpad, ports, screen (dead pixels, backlight bleed), hinges
  • βœ“Grade cosmetics: lid, bottom, keyboard deck, screen surface β€” on a scale we define (N0–N14)
  • βœ“Fill out the digital tech sheet in our system β€” tap through checkboxes, no typing required
  • βœ“Mark route: Complete (resell whole) or Parts (teardown) β€” based on condition
  • βœ“Flag anything unusual β€” Activation Lock on Macs, BIOS lock, enterprise enrollment on Chromebooks

Good fit if you're

  • β†’Curious about how laptops work β€” you don't need to be a tech, but it helps
  • β†’Methodical β€” you go through a checklist the same way every time
  • β†’Honest β€” if you're not sure, you flag it instead of guessing
  • β†’Helpful if you've opened a laptop before, used BIOS, or know Dell vs Lenovo vs HP
  • β†’We train you on our grading system, our inspection tool, and what to look for on every brand

Common Questions

Do I need to speak English?

It helps for communication with the team, but our inspection and listing tools are mostly visual β€” icons, checkboxes, and photos. We have team members who primarily speak Polish and Ukrainian and do great work.

Is this a good job if I want to learn more about computers?

Absolutely. If you want to understand how laptops work β€” what's inside them, how they're built, what makes them worth more or less β€” this is hands-on learning every day. Inspectors especially pick up a lot fast.

What does a typical day look like?

For Listers: you'll process a queue of devices or parts β€” photo them, upload, push to eBay. For Inspectors: packages come in the morning, you work through them one by one. It's consistent, structured work. Not hectic, not boring.

Can I apply for both roles?

Yes. Select "Open to Either" in the form and we'll place you based on what we need and what suits you.

How fast will I hear back?

We read every application and usually reach out within a few days. If you don't hear from us in a week, feel free to call: (775) 203-1085.

Apply Now

Takes 2 minutes. We review every application personally.
